With a complex site, EJ House is situated in a backstreet of traditional brick, weatherboard cottages, unsympathetic new builds and multi-unit developments. The proposal maintains its local character and lifts the existing timber cottage further off the ground, creating space below for parking. This maximises access and space for landscape, garden and outdoor living. A double height covered outdoor living space provides shelter from weather, with new and existing living spaces opened up to promote indoor spaces that feel like outdoor spaces, with light and air and outlook. Spaces that can be sealed off and protect when the weather turns.
