AM house- design development

Situated just behind the sand dunes, AM House is located in a classic mix of coastal homes and holiday houses, in varying states of repair. With a modest budget, the proposal seeks to maximise connection to the nearby beach while providing privacy on an exposed corner block. Utilising a courtyard house typology allowed for simple lightweight materials with the repeated modular form allowed simplicity of construction. This approach, along with a simple material palette helped manage budgetary constraints. The narrowness of each side of the building allowed for maximum breeze and sounds of crashing waves to pass through the building. The central courtyard allowed for outdoor living away from public view.
