At papercourtyard, we believe that architecture is a process, not a final product. The final home that we design together is based on lots of conversations with you, the client. It takes a lot to understand your needs and the site that we will build upon. Where does the sun set, how do you want to live, what are your likes and don't likes. Do you play music, do you have kids, do you have dogs, do you entertain, or do you lock the doors when the parents come around? What Council will you be submitting to, is your soil acidic, is there a threat of bushfire, what is the threat of bushfire, are you in a heritage area, does your land flood, is there a heritage item nearby?

Catching the first rays of sunshine while you have breakfast, catching a cooling breeze on a hot Summer day, the way a material feels in your hand when you run your fingers across it. Most people don't think of these things straight away. But we do, this is all a part of sustainability. It's not all about mud bricks and cob. We think that's beautiful.

Is affordable architecture beautiful?

Not having to maintain the house all the time, not having to go to work for longer than you have to, just to pay for your home, living in a simple home, aiming for a home that's as small as possible rather than as big as possible. We think that's beautiful.
